Cannock Chase Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB)

Cannock Chase has been an AONB since 1958 due to its beautiful landscape, the wildlife and history. It is the largest surviving area of lowland heathland in the Midlands, which is a threatened habitat in the wild. There is an extensive area of forest and woodland to explore, as well as open field areas to relax and play in. If you’re lucky, you may even see some wild deer in the Chase, that have almost certainly descended from the herd introduced during the Norman times.

There are several walks that you can do, based on your fitness and enthusiasm, there is also a play park for younger ones or you can try your luck at the Go Ape course.
Cannock Chase is only 40 minutes away from Yarnfield Park, so it is great for a break during your time in Staffordshire.
