Sustainable Venue Initiatives At Yarnfield Park Training And Conference Centre

Our menus are carbon calculated..…so you can make informed decisions about the meals you choose.

Our chefs utilise ‘Foodsteps’ recipe calculator for climate-friendly menu planning, helping us to calculate the environmental impact made by
each dish on our menu.

We removed beef & lamb from our menu…saving approximately 198 tonnes of CO2e each year…the equivalent of flying from the UK to Australia
71 times!

Calculation based on 1 in 4 diners choosing a red meat dish. Ingredient CO2 emissions based on figures from Foodsteps.

Local and seasonal ingredients…We prioritise sourcing local UK seasonal fruit and vegetables, and meat from the UK and Ireland.

This helps to eliminate airfreight, reduce scope 3 emissions and support UK agriculture.

Our desserts are dairy-free…creating more choice for guests with dairy allergies or sensitivities, and those opting for a plant-based diet, as well as saving an estimated 9 tonnes of CO2e per year.

Which is roughly the same as driving a van full of Portuguese egg custard tarts from Portugal to Yarnfield 36 times!

Calculation based on roughly 127k diners, with ingredient CO2 emissions taken from Foodsteps report.

The National Pigeon Advocacy Association held their conference at Yarnfield Park.
As a vegan movement, there’s always a worry about booking a venue for this many people, eating plant-based… but we needn’t have worried! The food was delicious, with several choices available.
The restaurant was lovely, and the staff were extremely helpful. The desserts are still being talked about on our forum! 4 plant-based desserts on one menu? .. Unheard of!
Keep it up Yarnfield, you are leading the way in conference food! for Vegans at conferences! “
Susan, National Pigeon Advocacy

Our tasty tea selection is Fairtrade…Fairtrade sets standards that protect farmers and workers, guaranteeing fair prices, safe working conditions, and sustainable practices.

We supply a selection of Clipper teas who, in 1994, became the UK’s first fairtrade tea supplier.

We provide dairy-free alternatives…If every guest chose oat drink instead of cow’s milk for their tea or coffee, it would save approximately 10 tonnes of CO2e per year…the equivalent to driving a car around the world!

CO2e figures for milk taken from Foodsteps report. Alongside our tea, coffee and milk, we also offer guests Glebe Farm oat drink which is made from UK oats.

We don’t send any waste to landfil...Approximately 1/3 of our waste is used to make green energy and the rest is recycled, saving over 50 tonnes of CO2 per year…the equivalent to launching a small rocket into orbit!

Calculation based on a small orbital launch typically emits 40–100 tons of CO2e, depending on the fuel and efficiency. So, 50 tons of CO₂ could represent one full launch of a small rocket like Orbex Prime.
