This is a popular spot for picnics and days out, whether that’s for a group of friends, a family or a couple on a romantic day out. This site is over 26 acres, including the Keep, inner and outer baileys, herb garden, woodland, car park and visitor centre. The Keep can be accessed during Visitor Centre opening hours.

There is a wide range of activities at the Visitor Centre, including audio visual displays, armour and costumes that can be worn, a timeline and an ever-changing display area, not to mention coin minting and brass rubbing activities. You can also purchase gifts, books and souvenirs in the Visitor Centre, as well as some light refreshments.
